FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a reviewer and I’d like to have an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of your new book. How do I get one?
Contact Thornock International. See my Contact page. They handle the distribution of all ARCs.

How do I schedule you for a book signing, conference, appearance or speaking engagement?
All requests must go through Thornock International, please. Requests sent to me personally via my web address, Facebook or Twitter often mistakenly get overlooked.

Will you speak to my book club by phone?
You bet!  I’d love to.  Just ask for Chris at Thornock International to set up a day and time.  While your here, may I suggest you check out the Book Club page for bookplates and printable extras to share with your group?  Order these in advance so you’ll have them available when we get together.

Will you ever write a Beyond the Map’s Boundary sequel?
I am working on a sequel/prequel currently.  It’s a combination of both.  It’s so much fun to write them.  Hopefully they’ll be in the pipeline by September, 2010.

Will there ever be a Beyond the Map’s Boundary movie?
A lot of people have asked me about any news of a movie offer.  Nothing is set up yet because it’s so new to the market and it takes time for producers to think and plan, but I’ll certainly keep you updated!

How did you come up with the name, Beyond the Map’s Boundary?
It’s kind of a strange story.  I actually had the name before I had the plot.  That’s kind of backwards, but this book wrote itself as though it knew the target and how to get there anyway.

What’s next for you?
I’m now working on my second book in the sequel.  It will introduce some fun, new characters and put the familiar ones in even more trouble than the first novel did.  Hopefully it will be released in March of 2011.

When are your next appearances? Will you be coming to my city?
I try to keep an updated list of signings and appearances on my News page. If you’d like me to come to your city, let your local bookstores and newpapers know!

How long did it take for you to get published? Can you give me advice on writing a book?
My first book was co-authored in 1988 and was published in 1989.  Those were non-fiction books that are still around and good information.  Getting published is not the same as it used to be.  The industry is changing.  A new author needs to study the blogs on publishing/self-publishing and determine what is right for you.  There’s no way around the hard work a writer has to put into marketing their books and themselves.  It is fun though and that’s one consolation I hope you will have in common with me.

When are your books going to be translated/published in my country?

The book is so new that there hasn’t been time to really think about that yet.  That’s something that will be open for discussion in time.

Why haven’t you answered my e-mail?
The sheer volume of e-mail that I receive has made it impossible for me to answer it all. If you have questions, be sure to check all the FAQs, as well as the extras around the site. Chances are, you might find what you’re looking for. If you don’t find the answers your seeking on this site, try www.beyondthemapsboundary.com.  I do read everything sent to me, and thank you so much for writing. To all my readers, thank you.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness and support.
